FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • What Are Pinched Nerves?

Think of this as a nerve being “strangled” by two bones pinching on a nerve and causing pain. More commonly the nerve is over stretched or chafed by the facet joints or small joints in your neck or back that cause pain and spasms.

Sometimes a “pinched nerve” can cause body pains or irritation to our organ systems such as stomach acid irritation, this is know as a “visceral”, or compression on the nerve in such a way like a foot stepping on a garden hose that goes to the organ such as the stomach and irritates the stomach, liver or GI tract.

  • Which is better, “Sick Care” or “Health Care”?

A lot of “Health Care” is merely treating symptoms, which is really “sick care”. In Chiropractic Care our goal is to promote trying to eliminate “pinched nerves” to help bring about optimum physical, mental and overall “well-being”.

  • What are the causes of “pinched nerves”?

There are three major causes of pinched nerves:  The first is from “trauma” such as an auto crash or a slip and fall. The second is from “chemical causes” such as from poor nutrition in the body and being sick. The third is “emotional causes” such as stress, anger, and fear.

  • What does it mean to “Keep your spine In line”?

A Healthy spine has a normal curve to it. X-rays can detect an abnormal curve in your neck or back. A loss of curve is very common in trauma from an auto crash or slip and fall.

  • Can children get improved with chiropractic care?

A chiropractic adjustment for children uses about the same pressure as you are testing the ripeness of a tomato.

A natural birth can even cause misalignments in newborns. Have your children checked by a chiropractor who can detect these misalignments.

  • Why get a Chiropractic Checkup?

A check-up for you and your family can detect “pre-symptomatic” misalignments or pinching of the nerves in your spines that can help prevent problems later.

  • Which is better Patch or Fix it up?

Stopping care too soon can cause a “relapse” in your condition and symptoms. Often, for a misalignment to hold, the muscles need to adapt to the treatment and the soft tissue needs to be retrained. Once your symptoms are better, just like the pain from a toothache, you need to keep on brushing and flossing to keep that tooth strong so it is with your misalignment or pinched nerves.

  • Why is the health of your spine so valuable?

Without the good health of your spine, pinched nerves and misalignments can affect your body with resulted pain and irritation to your organ systems. Continue a chiropractic program and feel your best. You are worth it and so is you family.

  • Why is the nervous system important?

Your nervous system controls everything. A patient whose nervous system is balanced by chiropractic can be a key to good health. Your nervous system controls your blood pressure and your pulse rate as well as cells throughout your whole body.

  • X-rays why we take them and look at them?

Just like a mechanic in order to repair your car must look under the hood first, pictures of the spine where it hurts can help the chiropractor know where to better treat and confirm exam findings that can rule out such things as fractures and tumors.
